Not surprisingly, the Golden State is home to some of the world’s most extravagant LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations. The biggest takes place in San Francisco and is held on the last full weekend in June, featuring a celebrity grand marshal, top-name musical entertainment and family friendly activities.
Two of the nation’s other largest Pride celebrations take place in Southern California: Los Angeles Pride (early June) and San Diego Pride Parade and Festival (mid-July). The L.A. Pride party happens in West Hollywood, offering an array of activities and programming, including performance stages dedicated to Latin music and hip-hop, while San Diego goes all out with musical entertainment on five stages as part of the city’s biggest civic event. On a mission to educate, celebrate, commemorate and liberate, other Pride gatherings in the Golden State include Palm Springs (early November), Long Beach (mid-May), Pasadena (mid-October), Santa Barbara (August), Santa Cruz (early June), Fresno (early June), Sacramento (early June) and Eureka (September).
