Visit California Unveils New Media Center

Easily searchable story ideas and ‘What’s New in California’ content bring the latest from California straight to your desktop or mobile screen

Sacramento, Calif. (May 16, 2018) – Visit California’s newly revamped online media center media.visitcalifornia.com launched today with a user-friendly interface that spotlights new and themed content.

“There is no better way to share the state’s hidden gems and iconic attractions than through authentic storytelling by travel and lifestyle journalists,” said Visit California President and CEO Caroline Beteta. “This dynamic platform will allow media from around the globe to easily find content to inspire their next article or trip.”

Media or travel trade professionals visiting the site can choose their location to get in-language and localized content for any of Visit California’s 13 top international markets (U.S. will be the default): Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Scandinavia, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

The homepage displays the latest featured content and also provides the option to customize content based on interest – culinary, family fun, luxury, arts & entertainment or outdoor adventure – and the site will serve themed photos, story ideas, events and press releases.

In addition to the above homepage capabilities, the new media center features:

  • Searchable “What’s New in California” content
  • Story ideas, press releases, recent coverage and marquee events tagged by theme, season and region
  • Downloadable royalty-free images and video
  • Research, including international market profiles and statewide facts and figures.
  • Regional profiles for each of California’s 12 distinct tourism regions
  • Press trip request form
  • Contact information for media and trade
  • Subscriptions to press releases and the “What’s New in California” newsletter

The online media center was developed by Mindstream Interactive and follows a total revamp of Visit California’s industry site, industry.visitcalifornia.com. The two sites share a complementary user experience and allow for a fluid experience when searching for research or signing up to receive relevant content. Both sites were designed with their specific audiences in mind, prioritizing easy navigation and clean design.
