In 2020 California celebrates its 170th birthday with a plethora of new attractions, hotels and restaurants sure to entice locals and visitors alike to come join the party.

NEW HOTELS
Pendry West Hollywood by Montage Hotels & Resorts: Debuting on the iconic Sunset Strip in 2020, the newest Pendry hotel will offer 149 luxury guest rooms and suites, a signature restaurant, rooftop pool and bar, bowling alley, spa and much more.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley: The Four Seasons welcomes Wine Country travelers to a one-of-a-kind Napa Valley experience. The new resort is set in the heart of a vineyard and pairs innovative dining with premium spa services and world-class service.

Andaz Palm Springs: Built in the center of Downtown Palm Springs, the Andaz features panoramic views of the San Jacinto mountains and city, as well as a full-service spa, fitness center, restaurant and lounge.

YOTEL SF: The micro-hotel YOTEL chain debuted its first adaptive reuse project  in San Francisco’s historic Grant Building which will soon feature a rooftop terrace and bar on the 10th floor. The hotel is the West Coast’s first aviation inspired hotel and weaves the building’s historical architectural elements with a future-forward design including the brand’s first sky cabin room category.

Oceanside’s Beachfront Resort: The largest beachfront development on the San Diego coastline in more than 20 years is slated to open at the end of 2020 in Oceanside with two new resorts. The Joie de Vivre hotel will feature 160 rooms and suites, most with ocean-facing balconies, and the upscale beach house design Destination Hotel resort will offer 226 rooms and suites most with full or partial ocean views. The Graves House from “Top Gun” is incorporated into the project as a new foodie destination.

Portola Hotel & Spa: The Four-Diamond property along Monterey Bay will unveil a multi-million dollar property renovation in spring 2020. All 379-guest rooms and public spaces will be redesigned to reflect the hotel’s stunning coastal location.

Bolero: For a taste of Spain in Temecula look no further than Bolero. Debuting in 2020, the new hotspot in Europa Village is part Spanish vineyard and tasting room, and part 10-casita boutique hotel.

Courtyard by Marriott: With a spectacular waterfront location just four miles from LAX, the new Courtyard by Marriott affords great views and great convenience. The highlight of the property is a large outdoor terrace perfect for watching jaw-dropping sunsets in Marina Del Rey.

Godfrey Hotel: Opening in early 2020 just a block away from famous Sunset Boulevard, The Godfrey brings a curated art program, high-design and one of the largest rooftop spaces in the city to Los Angeles. The chef-driven About Last Knife steakhouse and four bars are sure to make the boutique hotel a 2020 hotspot.

Wayfarer Hotel: Downtown Los Angeles continues to surge in popularity and in 2020 the community-focused boutique Wayfarer DTLA debuts. The property brings a social focus with its distinct restaurants, communal guest-hosted cooking and dining space, underground and rooftop bars and even shared room options.

Omni La Costa Resort & Spa: One of the most iconic hotels in Carlsbad reveals its new La Luna Ballroom in 2020. Designed in Spanish mission style, the 30,000 sq. ft. event space gives the Omnithe most meeting space in all of Southern California. 

NEW FOOD & BEVERAGE
Old Trestle Distillery Restaurant: The first distillery in Truckee in over 100 years, Old Trestle plans to pair its locally made gin, whiskey and vodka with a modern menu in 2020, designed to complement the spirits.

Venus Spirits: In Santa Cruz, Venus Spirits will launch a new distillery, tasting room and restaurant in May 2020 in a renovated warehouse space in the city’s west side. The restaurant will feature indoor and outdoor seating, and a menu of snacks, small plates, shareable entrees and fresh salads.

High Sierra Eats: Sonora’s most prolific chef, Eric Davis, and his son Gardner, a recent viticulture graduate, debut The Independent Wine Co., focusing on great wine and small plates in downtown Sonora. The historic Victorian property Hotel Charlotte launches Charlotte’s Tavern, a garden-to-table eatery with craft cocktails in Tuolumne county.

Edio Vineyards Tasting Room: Delfino Farms has been a SLO institution since its founding by Edio Delfino in the 1960s. In spring 2020 his grandchildren take the farm to a new level with the addition of the Edio Vineyards tasting room featuring the winery’s first vintages of Rhone varietals, Albarino, Primitivo and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Outer Reef: Outer Reef at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa in Dana Point opens in time to ring in 2020. Created by four-time James Beard nominated chef and two-time Top Chef contestant, John Tesar, Outer Reef is inspired by his two other restaurants, Spoon Bar & Kitchen and Knife.

NEW ATTRACTIONS`
Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park
The Avengers Campus will include the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature Spider-Man, an eatery called Pym Test Kitchen that will use the latest innovations to grow and shrink food, Avengers Headquarters with an e-ticket attraction aboard a Quinjet and heroic encounters throughout the campus.

‘Magic Happens’ Parade at Disneyland Park: Debuting in spring 2020, the new “Magic Happens” parade will travel down Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park. Celebrating awe-inspiring moments that are at the heart of so many Disney stories, the “Magic Happens” daytime spectacular will feature stunning floats, costumes and beloved Disney characters – all led by Mickey Mouse and his pals.

Secret Life of Pets Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood: Adoption day is the ultimate rite of passage for every animal seeking a home, inspiring Universal Studio Hollywood’s newest ride, “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” based on Illumination’s 2016 global blockbuster and 2019 sequel. In the fully immersive experience, guests assume the roles of stray puppies as they join a familiar cast of leading characters from the film on the ultimate quest of finding forever homes.

The LEGO Movie World: Families can step into their favorite moments of The Lego Movie in 2020, when Legoland California Resort opens a brand new land inspired by the film. The centerpiece of the area will be Masters of Flight, a full-dome-screen simulated ride on Emmet’s triple-decker flying couch through Middle Zealand, Cloud Cuckoo Land, Pirates Cove, and Outer Space.

‘Emperor’ Dive Coaster at SeaWorld San Diego: SeaWorld San Diego’s new “Emperor” dive coaster is scheduled to open in summer 2020. The new roller coaster will be the tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster in California, as well as the only floorless dive coaster the state.

Redwood Canopy Walk: Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka is the only zoo in the world situated among redwoods, and is scheduled to open the only redwood canopy walk in North America in summer 2020. The expansion is anchored in the Native Predator zone, and will offer visitors an educational eco-adventure that illuminates the life cycle and bio-importance of these magnificent, ancient trees.

SoFi Stadium: The L.A. Rams will get a new home for the 2020/2021 NFL season when SoFi Stadium opens in Los Angeles. The stadium is also the future home of the Los Angeles Chargers and will host the 2022 Super Bowl, College National Football Championship Game in 2023 and be the site of the 2028 opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympics.

SLO Public Market: In early 2020 the SLO Public Market opens giving visitors a chance to sample the best the Central Coast has to offer. The new market blends historical buildings from Bonetti Ranch with new construction to create eight buildings featuring shops, restaurants, boutiques, a brewery and a market hall.

Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza: Opening in fall 2020, the Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza will celebrate the history, culture and traditions of the Cahuilla Indians. Highlights include a 48,000 sq. ft. museum and a 40,000 sq. ft. spa featuring the hot springs that made Palm Springs famous.
